AI for Old People
AI is suddenly everywhere.
You hear about ChatGPT, AI assistants, AI search, AI photos, AI scams, AI this and AI that.
The problem is, most explanations seem to assume you already know what all of it means.
That’s not what I’m going to do here.
Each week, AI for Old People will show you one practical way artificial intelligence can help you do something useful — save time, solve a problem, learn something, organize something, create something, or simply make everyday life a little easier.
And whenever possible, I’ll show you exactly how to do it.
So for this first issue, let’s start with the most important question:
What can AI actually do for you?
🤖WHAT AI CAN DO FOR YOU
Think of AI as a very patient assistant

AI for Old People
One of the biggest misconceptions about AI is that you need to become an expert before it becomes useful.
You don’t.
You don’t need to understand how the technology works any more than you need to understand how Google works before searching for something.
What matters is what it can help you accomplish.
For example, you can ask AI to:
Plan a trip around your budget and interests
Rewrite an email that doesn’t sound quite right
Compare two products before you buy
Create a meal plan from food you already have
Explain a confusing letter or document in plain English
Help you research a topic
Brainstorm gift ideas
Create a packing list
Help organize a project
Turn rough notes into something readable
And that’s only the beginning.
The important part is this:
You don’t need to learn AI for the sake of learning AI.
You need to learn how to use it to do things that matter to you.
That’s what this section will focus on every week.
I’ll show you the result first — what AI can help you accomplish — before we get into how to do it.
👣TRY IT
Ask AI how it can help you

AI Can Help
Let’s make your first experiment very simple.
If you already have ChatGPT, open it.
If you don’t, you can visit ChatGPT and create a free account.
Then copy and paste this:
“Give me five practical ways ChatGPT can make everyday life easier. Ask me questions if you need more information.”
That’s it.
Read the answer.
Some of the suggestions may not interest you at all.
Others might make you think: “I didn’t know it could do that.”
And that’s exactly the point.
AI becomes much more interesting when you stop asking:
“What is AI?”
and start asking:
“What can it do for me?”
Every week, the TRY IT section will give you something practical to do yourself.
When a specific prompt helps, I’ll give you the exact words you can copy and paste.
No need to memorize special formulas or technical terms.
⭐AI WORTH TRYING
ChatGPT

ChatGPT
For the first issue, I’m starting with the obvious one.
ChatGPT.
There are now dozens of AI tools available, and I’ll introduce you to some of the useful ones over time.
But you do not need ten different AI apps to get started.
ChatGPT can already help with writing, planning, research, brainstorming, explanations, comparisons, organizing information, and a lot more.
There’s also a free version, which is more than enough for many people who are just getting started.
One thing to remember:
AI can be wrong.
It can misunderstand you, give outdated information, or occasionally make something up entirely.
So use it as an assistant, not as the final authority — especially for important medical, legal, financial, or other significant decisions.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll also show you features inside ChatGPT that you may not realize are there.
🎥WATCH ON YOUTUBE
Want to see these things demonstrated instead of just reading about them?
That’s what the AI for Old People YouTube channel is for.
I’ll use simple demonstrations, clear instructions, and screenshots so you can actually see what I’m doing.
No racing through menus.
No assuming you already know where everything is.

⏭️NEXT WEEK
You Don’t Need to be Good at “Prompting”
You may already have heard people talking about AI prompts and “prompt engineering.”
It can make using AI sound much more complicated than it really is.
Next week, I’ll show you one very simple change that can make ChatGPT give you much better answers — without memorizing formulas or learning technical language.
See you next week,
